The present day Suame Emmanuel Methodist Church started in the mid-1930’s, when some white missionaries who were stationed at Freeman College came into contact with the people of Sanaa village presently at the Ghana Water Company premises. They used to pay regular visits to the Sanaa village to preach and share the word of God with them. Three siblings showed interest in their teachings. They were Op. J. K. Brobbey, Op. John Owusu and Madam Agnes Owusu.

The church started from the Freeman College when the people went there to worship. It was later moved to Op. Manu’s also called John Owusu’s house until 1935 when the then Suame Odikro, Nana Abosi offered them a large tract of land for the establishment of the church at its current premises.

According to history, the Suame Emmanuel church was planted on 13th March, 1929. Among the white missionaries were Mr. Dupuis Weve, W. E. Cudjoe (now a Reverend Minister).
